McDonalds Gospel Sunday Atl

A Sunday That Fed My Soul and My Playlist

This past Sunday I slid into the Inspiration Celebration Gospel Tour, hosted by McDonald’s, and whew… it was a whole vibe. Picture a family reunion, praise party, and block concert rolled into one. The music had that head-bopping, windows-down energy we grew up on—but every lyric pointed straight to Jesus.

And then came the moment that really got me: Lecrae, the gospel rap trailblazer, sat down with actress and producer Crystal Renee Hayslett for a heart-to-heart. He shared his story—the old ways, the broken pieces, the wild chapters he thought disqualified him—and how God flipped it all for His glory. Listening to him unpack his past was like hearing proof that God can remix any life and still make it a hit.

Christian Rap Isn’t a Contradiction—It’s a Bridge

Let’s be honest: some folks still clutch their pearls when they hear “Christian rap,” like hip-hop can’t carry a holy message. But sis… isn’t that exactly how Jesus moved? He met people in their language and their lane—at the well, on the shore, in the streets.

Christian rap is that same kind of ministry. The beats pull you in, and before you know it, the lyrics are planting seeds. Romans 10:17 reminds us, “Faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.” For some, that Word shows up wrapped in 808s and rhymes—and that’s kingdom work, period.

Why Our Babies Need to See This

Let’s talk about the kids for a second. In a world where Sunday mornings compete with sports, TikTok, and endless scrolling, our babies need to see that God isn’t boring or out of touch.

Watching the little ones clap, sway, and sing along made my heart melt. That’s how faith starts—through moments that feel alive and familiar. Proverbs 22:6 says, “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.” Sometimes that “training” looks like Sunday school. Other times? It looks like a gospel rap concert that makes Jesus feel close enough to dance with.

Culture + Christ = No Conflict

We’ve been sold the lie that you have to choose: keep your culture or keep your Christ. But God is the Author of culture—the creativity, the rhythm, the flow. Christian rap isn’t watering down the gospel; it’s giving the gospel a mic that this generation actually hears.

Just like Lecrae’s testimony showed, God will take the very thing that once pulled you away and use it to pull others toward Him. That’s redemption in real time—and it’s beautiful to watch.

Wrapping it all up...That Sunday night wasn’t just entertainment; it was a reminder that God can use any beat to get His message across. It left me inspired to let Him move through the music, art, and culture I already love—and to trust that the gospel is big enough for every rhythm and rhyme.

Question: Where in your own world—music, art, fashion, or everyday culture—could God be waiting to drop a holy message through you?
